My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped.
I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy.

Stay mindful, understanding, and caring!...
That was great, Tom. I don’t know how anyone can think we’re not animals
Thanks much, Michael. Yes, you are right but a lot of people view humans as if they are some separate classification from what animals are. π
Having spent most of my life with animals both wild and tame I am in awe of their abilities – If we paid attention to how they acted we might learn how to be decent human beings. great post Tom!
Thank you, Sara. I’ve always been around critters too, and they never cease to amaze me with their dynamics, talents, and intelligence! π
If only we could convey that sentience – but I think a person has to live it – do you agree? All the education in the world changes nothing.
I’ve seen alternative schools, like Brockwood, (that i donate monthly to) that encourage kids to live close to nature. But, yes, a person has to actually live it and feel it in their heart.

I enjoyed the video immensely, thank you for sharing.
Thanks much, Over Soil! I hope that you stay above ground for a long time. π
A few more years at least, for I’ve so many more trees to plant, wisdom and kindness to share.
Great to read! π
Loved two elephants swaying to the violinist.
Yes, i did too! And you, having dogs, sure realize how intelligent critters can be! π
Oh my gosh Tom, that cockatoo was too funny! π€£ I simply loved the cool chimp who was driving the golf cart around like a piece of cake. Some of them were acting more human than some humans! Needed this laugh break for today! πππ
So glad that it put a smile on your face, Kym! Animals rock! π
Tom β thank you for sharing this video. Very sweet and informative as well. Iβve watched many videos at the site βThe Dodoβ over the years and you do get a sense just how smart animals are, not to mention their devotion to their offspring. At the very beginning of this video, I liked seeing the baby gorillaβs eyes following its mom while she was stroking it and she calmed it down βits eyes were intense, maybe scared initially? I liked the elephants enjoying the violin playing, the cockatoo bopping β¦ heβs got the rhythm does he not? Amazing the orangutan driving a golf cart, or how the gorillas cooled themselves off by wringing out a towel dipped in water β very intelligent. The donkey is having a whale of a time playing isnβt he?
Yes, that video had a lot of really cool stuff in it, Linda!
The Catalina Macaw here dances up a storm (to entertain me)… it’s quite comical!
That Oranutan driving so well is what really got me!… Gosh, he drives better than a lot of people i know! π
Yes it did Tom – gave me a much-needed smile between this heat, humidity and horrible storms. I truly needed a laugh. Yes, who taught him to drive so well – no road rage either!
Ha! “No road rage,” that’s funny. Yes he looked content and so peaceful! π
Well if he can parallel park I am definitely envious of his skills. π
π
We are all sentient beings. No boundaries or hierarchies ππ»π
Yes, Val, exactly! π
πππ Amazing ! It makes my day. Thank you ! π
Thank you, Madhuri! π
I often wonder if other animals sense itβs us humans who are entrapped in our environment. For some reason I was mesmerised by the buggy trip to the zoo – so relaxing to watch.
