My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped.
I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy.

Wisdom delivered with a touch of humor – thank you for a keeper poem!
Perhaps there’s a verse for our not-so-separate relationship with body parts? I learned yesterday that my “sciatica” is not that at all – rather, bone-on-bone in hip that must be replaced if I want to again walk normally w/o pain. I’m not scheduled yet (likely not till early 2022). Maybe I’ll have time to emotionally separate before surgical finality? Wishing you a successful knee surgery and bonding with the changes. Attitude and Physical Therapy can work wonders. [I’ve begun positive affirmations re hip swapping … maybe an ode will emerge.]
That is one amazing frog photo! My son is hoping they finally get around to giving him a new knee at 54 years of age. Taking some time off is a good idea. Wishing you the best recovery.
Beautiful poem and interesting looking frog Tom. Sending you much love as you go through surgery next week. 𦡠You know we’ll be thinking about you. π€ Take care of yourself and don’t overdo it. π€
I hope your surgery and recovery go well, Tom, and best wishes from me and the Sock Monkey! Ah, the human knee. If there were an “intelligent designer,” what a joker it would be.
This little guy is so cute – love the splayed fingers, er hands … I know they are around here, but I’m never lucky enough to see them. Good luck on your impending knee surgery Tom – you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Might as well get it over with so you’re up and about for Fall woodsy walks … maybe it will have cooled off by then. And you’ll be in top shape for navigating the Winter weather woes. Ugh. Take care.
Thank you about the tree frog, Linda. Unlike the somewhat rare tree frogs, there are a lot of toads hopping around here now. And there seems to be an abundance of ants this year, and spider-eating wasps! Thanks about the knee surgery well-wishes! I hope that i can get out and about quickly, for sure, especially with all of the many wonderful critters that i have to take care of here.
Keep snappin’ those super shots and be very careful in this oppressive, nasty heat!
π
I liked those little fingers Tom! I have an abundance of ants too – Carpenter and tiny black ants. This Spring I had a lot of ants on one side of the house coming in. I have to get a perimeter spray, though I don’t want to do that, but they drove me crazy in the kitchen where I work, plus the bathroom and my room. And this year, they hung around another 3-4 weeks. They got into cupboards and marched to the table, onto my laptop – wiped away their trail – they found another way. Even though neighbors and others say they had them too, I had the Terro traps out (they did not) and had an abundance of them anyway. I hope you have someone helping you with your fish and parrots – they’ll be sure to let you know they’re hungry. I will be careful Tom – this heat and storms are just getting me down. We have a flash flood warning today and another 4 inches of rain on the expressway – cars bobbing around on the Southfield Expressway again. We have severe weather again Sunday but all the rain today will not bode well for shoreline parks, so I’ll stay close. It’s getting old for sure. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Thanks for the good wishes, Linda. I’ve been so busy lately that i haven’t even had time to read messages on my blog. I’ve been doing a lot getting ready for the surgery, plus I’ve had big problems with innumerable paper wasps building nests all over my house. I’ve been getting on ladders, removing their many nests, and spraying. It has been awful. I don’t like that they have been killing my favorite jumping spiders around the house.
Good luck with the ants. Probably some kind of special spray for indoors and outdoors is your best bet. I like ants. But not when they decide to take over your house! (They will be here for millions of years after we humans are long gone.)
I have cousins staying with me a little while. After that, i will have to be taking care of the animals (and that frightens me; i hope i will be able to do it). A good friend nearby offered to help with the animals, but may not be able to due to serious Fibromyalgia problems.
I wish you a quick recovery Tom. They have you up out of bed the same day and a friend had a knee replacement very early in the morning and sent home that night; even a hip replacement you’re up and out of the hospital in record time. Glad you have some support for Tweety and Scarlet and the fish. I haven’t called the pest control service – I’m still wavering about the small mud dauber’s nest. I’ve not seen any wasps, but there are holes that were not there before. Will dwell on it a little longer. He might as well do both at the same time. I’ve looked at all of Terro’s products for the ants – tried inside liquid baits and outside the pellets. No ants except Spring inside, but they overstayed their welcome this year.
Hope you have a quick and successful recovery.β€οΈ
Thank you, Grace! π
