I’ve hunted with camera in many a spring rain
Seen oodles of pleasure in life… and rivers of pain
Focused on creatures… including the very small
Lived with plants and animals, loving them all
This movement liked to shoot diminutive creatures really up-close
And smiled when a spider’s lens did perfectly expose
Realized that nothing fully conveys life via a digital screen
Words are mere symbolic shadows, if you see what i mean
Delightful play on “shadows” … your camera speaks clearly!
Many thanks, Jazz! We all need to keep the mind’s camera eye clean! π
Spring!!
She’s finally here! My eyes are tearing up! π
I agree! It was one long winter! Today has been such a gift!ππ±π
You walk tall and carry a big camera Tom…shoot to get a killer photo! π That’s what I call “Packin'” Mr. Cameraman!!! Happy Spring and Happy National Poetry Month!
Thank you much, Kym! π So much better, i think, than so many of my crass, hunting brother-in-laws. When they shoot, they shoot to kill.
Ugh! π¦
Hunting with a camera is the best thing. π
You really do get up close and personal with your little subjects. Excellent shot. π
Much appreciated, Scifi! When i was a little kid, my mother was sick a lot, so i had to stay at the hotel that my aunt owned and ran. Lots of rural land where the hotel was… and all one did was investigate little, wild critters. Still at it at 66!
Aw that’s a wonderful thing to be doing your whole life, even if the start of it was because your Mum was ill.
Wonderful poem and photo Tom!
Thanks much, Belinda! It was another fun one to do! Keep snappin’ π
I see what you mean Tom but please continue posting with your symbolic shadows.
Have a good weekend.
I am especially appreciative of your comment, George, because it crosses a certain kind of line. Hoping your weekend, too, is great! π
that’s really a great poem and photo, Thomas. Have a nice weekend, Mitza
You too, Mitza! Get that camera out and shoot something beautiful! π
I enjoyed that poem Tom and the photo is interesting … you see an ant crawling along a sidewalk, or on your picnic table (Heaven forbid) and everyone recognizes that ant, but up close, it no more resembles an ant than I do. Not black and legs looks all bent and look at the long antennas. And ants are already out and about? It says 2018 for the photo, so I guess so. After the long Winter/cold Spring we’ve had, just watch it get really hot and unbearable in record time.
This is actually from last spring. Ants were out and about here even as snow was falling but they were not as impressive as the one pictured. Finally, the real spring is truly here… and no earthquakes whatsoever! π
