The Universe was never Created…

The universe was never created. It always was and always will continue to be. (Fortunately, that ineffable sacredness — beyond all of our shenanigans — is also perennially existent.)

For example, upon the death of his lifelong friend, Michele Besso, in 1955, Albert Einstein wrote a famous condolence letter stating, “Now he has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That means nothing. For us believing physicists, the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.” Einstein wrote this to Besso’s family in March of 1955, just a few weeks before his own death.

I’m not saying, but we may, or may not, live in a universe that somewhat reflects the Einsteinian-oriented Block Universe Theory. Regardless, whatever some people may foolishly posit, the “now” has an important/significant place in this universe and should not be dismissed and disparaged. So please ponder deeply, my friend, and live your life with order and compassion, as if each second is a miracle (with great, limitless value).

My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped. I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy. I’m not sure Besso’s family was consoled by that note. I had to Google to see how Einstein knew his own death was forthcoming. The Golden Lichen is colorful as we await Spring to roll out – it is still blah and colorless here.

I think you are very wrong about what Besso’s family felt about the letter. Besso’s family was consoled appropriately, because Besso and Einstein shared the same ideas about time and existence, and the Besso family knew it. Einstein was pointing to Michele’s eternal nature. Einstein, himself, admitted that such a condolence may not be appropriate for many other families.

Things are greening up here, and there are plenty of wild violets in bloom. Edie will be retiring soon, which is great!

Okay, now I understand better – thanks for explaining Tom. I am hoping to get out for a walk with the camera tomorrow, the only day for the next week that will not be raining/storming or severe weather. Congratulations to Edie! Does she share your enthusiasm for macro photography and edge-of-the-woods adventures?

It’s been so windy almost each and every day, such that it’s ridiculous. It makes it difficult to do yard work and to take photos of plants and such.

Edie isn’t into photography like i am, but she will go with me to the State Park, and similar places, while i take photos. Edge-of-the-woods adventures for sure… as i’m not going to risk getting disease-carrying ticks; with global warming, they are way too numerous these days.
