Time and Space (and the possible Block Universe)

Einstein has shown us that Time and Space are not two separate things; they are tied together as one. We human beings are still extremely primitive creatures. Most of us continue to function in (and “as”) time in a very linear, crudely sequential way. We function in (and “as”) time, but most of us don’t deeply investigate into the nature of time. We are somewhat like guppies that don’t ponder about the full nature of the aquarium they are in.

Just as we were taught, we divide and separate the past, present, and future. Thought is sequential, and — by being robotically and habitually stuck pretty much exclusively in thought/thinking — we continue to react sequentially. These reactions depend upon a space between a so-called observer and the observed; without that limited space, the so-called observer would be lost. It may be that limited space tends to form a limited “observer”; a limited observer may react as limited space. Limited space may enable (and be) a so-called “observer.” This limited space may necessitate a limited time. We spend a lot of time wasting time on a lot of foolish things (that do not help Mother Earth and the Environment). We need to act more responsibly.

It may be that there is no “you” really moving from the present into the future. It may be that your so-called moving isn’t moving at all (and that the present, the future, and the past are what you are). With all of the moving (i.e., traveling) that you feel you’ve done, it may be that your consciousness has (in actuality) not really moved anywhere other than where it has always been. Let it shine wisely.

My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped. I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy. My mind is constantly dwelling on the future these days Tom … and it is a worrisome thought to be honest. I’ve said it before, that I looked forward to my golden years to have leisure time again after 50 years of working, but, between crime, climate change (not only for our constantly evolving volatile weather, but the creatures like ticks in abundance, worse than the 2017 influx of ticks), my mind and body shudder to think of the road ahead. On a happier note, I like how the “fingers” of this tree frog are splayed. I’m guessing its vertical world is the outside brick wall of your home, not a tree that it is scaling. Great shot of the little guy!

Yes, Linda, a lot of things in the world are deteriorating, but we must remain thankful for the vast order and beauty that is out there. Speaking of “things deteriorating,” i found out — today — that the glaucoma that i have in one eye has gotten worse. But i was put on additional, new eye drops that will (hopefully) help a lot. Things could be far worse, so i am still very appreciative of what takes place. We have to be positive, even with a lot of crazy negatives going around (on two legs). 😊

Yes, sometimes it is difficult to remain positive, but I, too, try to do so. Be careful of the ticks on your visits to the woods or anywhere Tom. I saw a video and story on the Weather Channel today that ticks are running rampant all across the nation, the worst since 2017. I heard that info the other day, but I’ve seen similar stories on multiple social media news channels since … they said even walking on asphalt can cause problems with ticks hitching a ride. I may be limiting my walks for a while … too bad since I also heard the last two weeks of July will likely be the best two weeks of Summer as they won’t be as hot and humid. My mother had low-angle glaucoma and was on drops for years and it kept her eyes from getting worse. She had to go for Humphrey Fields eye tests at the opthalmologist every year to have it monitored. Good luck with the drops helping your eye to improve – sight is one of our most critical senses.

Thanks, Linda. These days, if you have glaucoma, you have to go to the ophthalmologist every 3 months… which is what i now do. Hopefully, the drops will keep it from getting worse. I am also going to take 500mg of Nicotinamide (i.e., vitamin B3) every day. Research shows that it improves eyes with glaucoma!

Those ticks scare the daylights out of me. What one did to my cousin, Karen, was horrifying. She was bedridden.

My mom’s glaucoma was about 25 – 30 years ago Tom, so that makes sense things are different now. I do remember her going for the Humphrey Fields tests and maybe they were twice a year initially, then when the drops helped the glaucoma to be under control, once per year only. She had low-angle glaucoma. Taking the vitamins is a good idea – do what you can to keep your eyes healthy and thwart the glaucoma. I have to go to the eye doctor again in October as he is monitoring me for cataracts … I usually only go once per year, but now I went in April and now six months later. Not looking forward to that if it has to happen.

The ticks scare me as well. I’m sorry to hear about your sister. We had a TV weatherman who got Lyme Disease in the mid-90s. He went up north to a cabin and was bitten by a tick. He had to quit his job as he also was bedridden. He gave an interview to the TV station where he worked once, but did not appear on camera. He said it took all of his energy just to get out of bed and walk down the hall and he would have to go right back to bed again. He was not bedridden at that time, but never recovered and could no longer live alone, so went to a nursing home the rest of his life. He was in his late 30s/early 40s when he got sick. He just passed away last year. I had heard how the ERs are filled with people coming in with tick bites. I said to myself “well you’re careful” but I was careful last year when a tick got into my outer ear but didn’t attach.

We are taught many things that do more to limit and control than liberate and benefit. Perhaps there is a parallel universe where this isn’t so. πŸ€” Thank you for the share, Tom. βŒ›

Reading your last 2 posts almost make my head hurt. Being an uneducated woman of substantial age also adds to the lack of ability to absorb words easily but I am still trying. I have issues with time. It doesn’t behave and I have found it possible to expand and contract time according to necessity. I’ve also done that with weather. Scared the stuffing out of my mother many years ago on a road trip. We seem to forget that as the observer we have some say in how things appear or at least that’s how it seems in my mind. When we aren’t in touch with the natural rhythm of the earth and universe, we loose some of that, or so it seems. I will pass on the info on B-3 to my son who also has glaucoma. He’s having a laser treatment Monday as pressures are too high and drops not helping. Thank you for that.
