To Live in the Present (is illusory) for most people…

Recognizing the “present” from the past (i.e., from stored, accumulated memory) is not living in the present whatsoever; it is an extension of the past (involving recognition). We can also recognize — and “be” — concepts about the future. However, such concepts or mental formulations are not the future… but are merely projections — from (and “as”) past memory — about what possibly could be.

To intelligently go beyond such limited mental patterns requires a very sharp, dynamic mind. Most minds are not interested in this. Most minds are not capable of what is needed. They tend to stagnate in (and “as”) limited parameters (all the while thinking that they are free, in the present, and accurate in their perceptions). Erroneous thoughts can believe that they are living in the present, while (all the while) they are not. To truly be of the timeless goes beyond self-deception and limited stagnation. Please intelligently inquire into this.

My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped. I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy. “PLEASE INTELLIGENTLY INQUIRE INTO THIS” WISE, KIND WORDS – I HOPE WE ARE ALL LISTENING –

I AM JUST NOW TOTALLY NOT IN THE PRESENT BUT FRETTING ABOUT THE WORKERS COMING TO MY LITTLE CABIN WITH A BED I WAS FORCED INTO BUYING – IT’S SO OLD THE SAGGING HURTS MY HIP… MEANWHILE IT IS A GLORIOUS COOL DAY AND I AM BREATHING IN CLEAR AIR – IN LOVE WITH GREEN BUT ONLY AROUND THE EDGES… AND I HAD A VERY NICE VISIT FROM A BEAR LAST NIGHT – THEN I WAS TOTALLY PRESENT FOR OUR FRIENDLY EXCHANGE – NOW I AM STUCK IN ONE OF THE OLD BORING PATTERNS OF MY LIFE – ANXIOUS/FEARING NOISE AND WHATEVER… A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF FALLING INTO THE PIT… AND NOT BEING PRESENT – UGH.

That is awesome about a visit from a bear, Sara. (One cannot “know” that total presence existed.)
We all have our moments of anxiety and of finding ourselves in circumstances that are not perfect. Please don’t dwell on the negative. My mother used to dwell and get fixated on the negative. Thank goodness, that is in the past. What is a person’s motive for spreading their moments of the negative to others? Life is too short for much of that.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Tom. Your little ant is featured in such an amazing close-up that it almost looks as if it were made of polished wood.

Yes, we often have no concept of time, especially when we’re young … suddenly the years roll on and we stand up and take notice. Yes, the color of the ants looked like mahogany wood furniture. We ought to pay closer attention to things we normally pass up.

I don’t think that we stand up and take notice. I think we stagnate and swallow the limitation and measaurement that our primitive society spoon-fed to us. Yes, the color is much like mahogany wood furniture! I’ll have to take some pics of some fossil ants that I have in 100 million year old Cretaceous amber. Ants have been around a very long time!
