Insights or Non- (Part 10)

We won’t ever have a clean planet — free from dying and mass extinction — if fracking is more important for creating jobs and oil than green energy is for world health.

True meditation lies beyond mere practice, beyond calculated methodology toward an end, beyond sequential, conditioned reactions.Β

John Lennon hit the nail on the head when he said, “If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there’d be peace.”

When the idealism of politicians takes precedence over truly caring for all of the people, then chaos and confusion ensue.

The living, dynamic, moving sacred can neither be retrieved like a stagnant memory nor lead to by a dead, organized path.

The epiphany of profound insight may occur when the mind is naturally quiet without effort.

  1. Ugly truths, but a beautiful angel fish! Our world is such a mixture – thank you for including the tranquility (or so it appears) of the fish.

  2. Beautiful angel fish! John Lennon was right! Too many of us have become human robots, often not thinking for themselves. As to the health of the planet, I’ll keep doing my part and hope that if enough others do the same, we will make a difference. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks about the Angelfish, Sabine. They make wonderful pets! πŸ™‚
Yes, regarding the health of the planet, we are trying to do much too. More people need to wake up and realize the precarious situation we are in (before it is too late). Unfortunately, it may be too late at this time; innumerable species have already gone extinct due to pollution/habitat distruction.

      • Angelfish are wonderful! I had a tank filled with them a few years back. As for the planet’s health, I find that it fits right in with our healthcare systems, as in a lack of prevention and true education about consequences of current and past behavior. Only time will tell how it all ends!

      • Sabine, before i retired, when i was a teacher of the multiply handicapped, i had a large 125 gallon aquarium in our classroom. The students loved it! πŸ™‚ A large number of the assistant-staff ended up getting aquariums for themselves. Aquariums teach you — extremely quickly — about how ecological systems need to be healthfully balanced (or they rapidly collapse).

  3. I liked the distinction between idealism and true caring. As for your fish — what a glorious creature. The colors are truly amazing, and its obvious awareness of the world around it is charming.

  4. It’s a shame we only take care of the planet one day a year for Earth Day – shame on us if we don’t respect nature better than that. Your pet angelfish is beautiful Tom. My former dentist had a huge aquarium in the waiting room. I used to like to watch the angelfish gliding around so gracefully in the tank. It was very relaxing. He retired and took the tank home I guess as the new dentist had a stark waiting room, just magazines.

    • So cool about your former dentist, Linda! Too bad that your current one just has mundane magazines!
In our current general practitioner’s waiting room, there are two really huge “L”-shaped aquariums that are connected to each other to form a square. There are small angelfish in one of them that will certainly grow over time. They are not our doctor’s tanks but were put together by the head of the department there. Makes going to the doctor a little less pathetic! Tee-hee! πŸ™‚

  5. β€œIf everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there’d be peace.” …this ought to be displayed somehow somewhere for everyone to see on a daily basis, if not more often, really. πŸ™‚
