Chilling Halloween Creepiness…

               I’ve got eight legs

you’ve got two

                      I’ve got eight eyes

you’ve only two

                    You run from us

and scream

                    but we’re much

more afraid of you

                     You with your overpopulation

and polluting ways

                    are ruining this planet

We aren’t

                    With your hitting hatred

and your many armaments

                    you mindlessly march in armies

We don’t march in any

                     So on Halloween

or on any other dark night

don’t run from us in hysterics

It’s all so blatantly  ludicrous

My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped. I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy. 1. Hurrah for the Spider! Love the photographs… Had an interesting experience with
tarantulas on the way to Taos New Mexico a couple of weeks ago. The spiders were crossing the road because it’s mating time and my friend and I kept stopping the car to help the spiders cross safely. At the time it just seemed like the compassionate thing to do.. but the experience has, oddly, stayed with me.

    • It was super sweet of you to be stopping the car for the spiders, Sara! 🙂 When i was younger, i had friends who would intentionally try to run animals over while driving; they weren’t my friends for very long. Everyone should be considerate and caring concerning animals. When spiders are inside the house, i gently grab them with a Kleenex and release them outside.

      • Living in rural Maine for most of my life has brought me face to face with the reality that people apparently enjoy running over animals. I have witnessed this horrific abuse too often to ignore the significance of it. Abuse is always about power…

      • Yes, Sara, i couldn’t believe — when i was a young boy — how many of my friends would like to harm and torture animals. It wasn’t just in our area either; when we’d go to distant states on vacation and i would make new temporary friends… it was the same thing: they enjoyed killing or harming animals. I’m glad i’m a vegetarian and am not like many are. It’s a weird world! I think you are right… a lot of it is about power, but it’s more than that, unfortunately; it’s a sadistic tendency (or inherited fondness for hunting and killing) that a lot of males have within.

  2. your post made me think about spiders, Thomas. You’re completely right with everything. So you probably have a spiderman costume for Halloween? We don’t celebrate this here, fortunately. Have a nice day, regards Mitza

    • Halloween is a super fun time, for children and for young-minded adults here! I really enjoy it a lot! I’ll be going to where i used to work as a teacher with the multiply handicapped (before i retired). They made a big spook house in the auditorium for them (like we always did in the past) and i’ll be going to spend the day with all the kids! It will be a blast! 🙂

  3. Spiders are definitely more afraid of us, then we are of them. Spiders do not scare me, there is no reason to run. Happy Spooky Halloween Tom.
