The Ukrainians and prayer…

My prayer is — and always has been — in the doing, not in mere words. You can’t put food in an unfortunate starving man’s belly with a prayer.

As i’ve said to Harini (i.e., thelongview) in my previous blog posting’s comments, i have been donating to various food banks benefitting the Ukrainians. More of us should do the same. 💖

(Note: It seems that Leonardo DeCaprio did not donate the 10 million dollars to Ukraine like i had written about here initially. That information — that went viral about him — was not true. However, he did donate to various organizations pertaining to people in need, including the victimized Ukrainians.)

My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped. I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy. Stay mindful, understanding, and caring!...

  1. I hate the Ukranians & Leonardo Decaprfag. Ukrainians started the war by putting troops along the Russian border that has put the whole world in jeopardy. I hope Russia decimates Ukrain & my family history comes from Ukrain as I my family background comes from Hungary & Romania and I have 0 Russian in my background so that should say something you fucking loser

  2. Talk (or prayer) is cheap if we don’t follow it with action, no matter how small. What’s happening in Ukraine is heartbreaking. I am encouraged by the large numbers of Russian people protesting the war and the reaction of the world at large but I think it’s high time we actually do something to protect the lives of innocents suffering and dying in this unjust war. All war is unjust, come to that.

    Thanks for this, Tom.

  3. Tom, sending prayers is better🙂 Please know that over the last 20 yrs (or more) America has sponsored over 30 biolabs in countries along Russian border, 26 of which in Ukraine alone. Such labs are against international treaty, so you’ll never hear confirmation by the public media. Putin, although demented as he is in his actions, did not attack Ukraine out of thin air. He is understandably feeling threated being surrounded- Russia and US are mortal enemies. Imagine Russia setting up camp in Canada or Mexican border. America would definitely not like that!
So this scenario is a bit like starting fire right besides the cave of the bear, and accusing him for taking out his claws.

This is why you’re seeing this pushback. I understand and totally sympatize with your feelings. I’m also very concerned, I still have family at the Black Sea. And it’s the common people feeling the tensions of world politics, not those in power. But I’m also aware that Putin was very much provoked, and America has known exaclty that this would be the consequences.

  4. It is mind boggling, how people can justify Putin’s action against Ukrainians and his own people, how any woman can vote for Trump, how the church has protected child molesters, the list goes on and on… It seems to me, evil trumps the good folks.

    • Yes, it’s a sick world, bearly. But there are a lot of good people in it too. For instance, plenty of people are giving donations and help to the victimized Ukrainians. All the nuts out there (and even some responding to my Blog lately) make me laugh; you have to laugh (otherwise you would have to cry about so much human insanity). 😉

  5. Tears – the photo is great Tom, water droplets caught in a web, but yes it does resemble tears and ties in so nicely with your words. I gave to Unicef today through Google. This morning I heard a sad story on the news – a man was visiting his mother who has Alzheimers and was worried about leaving his family (wife and two kids behind). The wife assured him they were okay. They had to escape the home due to mortar shelling and were all killed in the street. The man saw it on the Twitter news and recognized the kids’ clothing without seeing their faces. What a sad story – there are hundreds of sad stories right now.

  6. You captured a special moment in that picture, Tom. Thanks for reminding us to do what we can for those in need.
