Dogs are so joyful to frequently hug
Dogs are fun to roll around with on the living room rug
Dogs cherish you in their own little pack
Dogs = oodles of love to give back
Dogs just wish you to be compassionately there
Dogs (if your face is ugly) do not give a care
Dogs each can be just a wonderful friend
Dogs chase their tails to no attainable end
[The first photo is of our 14-year-old Shih Tzu, Gabbie. She just turned 14; yesterday was her birthday! The second photo is a 12 million-year-old fossil wolf from Eurasia. Could it be a distant ancestor to the dogs who own us? Possibly! (Putting a perspective on time here, recent research reveals that the ancestors of humans and chimpanzees may have begun genetically diverging from one another 13 million years ago; 12 million years ago we were still in the trees, safe from the terrestrial, predatory wolves.) ]

My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped.
I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy.

Stay mindful, understanding, and caring!...
Lovely celebration of dogs! 🙂 Happy Birthday to Gabbie – looking good for 14 years! For some reason I pictured you white haired.
And some serious teeth on that fossil wolf! 🙂
Thanks, Sci! We took Gabster, yesterday, to a nice, little park in a local town. It is a place where a lot of dog owners walk their dogs (and the dogs leave their scents)… so Gabbie was thrilled. Plus she got a new toy and extra treats.
Hug Little Monkey and Mr. Spagetti Legs today! 🙂
Aw, Sounds like the perfect celebration for a little dog. 🙂
LM got a nice long walk today, and SL a slow amble, and both got hugs and treats. I guess every day is like a birthday to a dog! 🙂
Yes, every day is like a birthday to a dog! Something we need to learn from! 🙂
I would be a bit afraid to cuddle with the “dog” down there. It doesn’t really look very peaceful. But your dog looks so cute. Happy Birthday to Gabbie. Hope he gets a nice German sausage today and Tweetie something else. Have a nice day, regards Mitza
Thank you, Mitza! Gabbie got a new toy and some extra treats, plus a walk at a very nice local park. Tweetie — it’s around her birthday — got a new Backyardigans video, Polka Palace Party — which she liked very much! 🙂
lol
Great post Tom – dogs are wonderful, have a great weekend!
Thanks, Karen! Dogs are wonderful! I’m so glad that we two species got together! 🙂
Lovely picture of your sweet pup. I just lost my faithful girl, she didn’t quite make it to her 14th birthday.
So sorry for your loss, Karen. They become family… not just pets. We’ve lost dogs over the years; it is never easy.
Thank you. Yes, she was family, and is dearly missed.
Happy Belated Birthday Gabbie! And thanks Tom for sharing some aspects of your personal life with your followers.
Gabbie thanks you and i thank you, Maria! We’ll try to keep her spoiled! 🙂
I hope Gabbie had a wonderful birthday. Senior dogs are really special.
Thank you, Sonya! Yes… all dogs are special! 🙂
Gabbie is just lovely! I too have an affinity for dogs, as I have grown to appreciate their immense (and borderline stalking) loyalty. We bought the runt and I kept him close until his tiny puppy body was healthy and happy, now he is 140 lbs and thinks he’s a lap dog. But the smiles he brings to our faces is worth tripping over him at 2am for snacks 💜
Happy birthday Gabbie dear! You are so loved!
