Often, in the backyard, there “is” the trees, the birds, and animals and no “me.” The space between things (then) — like the clear parts of a dragonfly’s wings — does not separate them.

My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped.
I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy.

This is lovely – Both words and photo 🙂
Thanks, Sci! 🙂 This species probably doesn’t exist in the Capetown area.
Probably not this particular one, but I have seen dragonflies here, even skimming over my pool very occasionally 🙂 What a treat!
Beautiful capture, Tom! Appreciate your keen observation. 🙂
Thanks so much Amy! (It really, in a big way, isn’t mine.) 🙂
that’s a very beautiful dragonfly that we don’t have. Probably needs warmer weather. Wonderful words and photo, Thomas. Regards Mitza
Thank you, Mitza! They are quite common in our area; they are probably the species of dragonfly that you are most likely to encounter here. 🙂
wow, that would be a reason to visit you, hehe
Anytime; but jet fuel exhaust spewing into the atmosphere is terrible for this planet.
Neat click. I can feel the crisp of the wing.
Thank you, nivs22+2! 🙂
Ah yes, this is poetic!
Thanks so much! 🙂
You’re more than welcome.
WOW..! Wonderful picture Tom..! Great shot.! : o )
Thanks, Francisco! Dragonflies are awesome! 🙂
You’re welcome Tom.! Indeed.! 🍁
Thanks for stopping by!
🙂
and no “me.” Yes, this is it. I find it’s happening more and more…
Unless true enlightenment occurs (that’s another story)…then when it actually “happens,” in a deep-mindful sense, one cannot even know (or be sure) that it is happening; one can suspect that it “may” be happening. Additionally, one cannot, under any circumstances “make it happen.” One cannot (as was stated in your not so recent posting) “decide to not-become a thought just allow it to ‘become’ by itself”… because there is no “I” that is not just another conditioned thought.
Thanks for that piece of Wisdom Tom, This is it, just allow it to ‘become’ by itself”…
You are welcome, tiramit!
Actually, “allowing” has nothing to do with it either (if it is to truly take place)… because “allowing” still implies a “controller,” or some kind of free manipulator. This (allowing), then — either blatantly or subtly — contributes to the erroneous notion of free will and/or a separate, special or central regulator, when in fact, there is no such thing whatsoever. All thoughts, and all processes of or about thoughts, are conditioned.
Observation (without conflict), without separative processes involving improving or control of any kind, may break away from the standard notions involving psychological evolution (which is no profound evolution whatsoever).
Just WOW
Just “Thank You!” 🙂
😀 😀 😀
So awesome, Tom. Great shot!
Greetings
Ulli
Much thanks, Ulli! 🙂
Amazing capture ! Beautiful blue and black colors 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
So so beautiful! The supreme nature!
(And thank you for your visit on my photo blog.)
Thank you, Mala! 🙂
Thank you for liking “Everlasting” and “First Day of Spring.” Nice dragonfly photo and post! 🙂 I like your interesting perspective. I notice that if my mind is still enough, “me” disappears into the “is” of my backyard.
