My Blog primarily consists of close-up nature photos (that I've taken locally) combined with original holistic-truth oriented prose and/or poetry involving mindfulness/awareness. I love nature and I love understanding the whole (not merely the parts and the details). I'm a retired teacher of the multiply handicapped.
I have a number of interesting hobbies, such as fossil collecting, sport-kite flying, 3D and 2D close-up photography, holography, and pets. Most of all, I am into holistic self-awareness, spontaneous insight, unconventional observation/direct perception, mindfulness, meditation, world peace, non-fragmentation, population control, vegetarianism, and green energy.

Stay mindful, understanding, and caring!...
We tend to think this is a problem associated with youth… yet we are all rather guilty of focussing on the positive aspects of self, no matter how old we are. Seems, when considered rightly, that it is the negative aspects which define us in the eyes of others… and, cruelly, we remain blind… 😉
Yes, Running Elk, most all of us old and young alike… tend to see ourselves with jaded eyes. Much of this extends to the group or social clique that one happens to belong to. My gang is “right,” my country is “right,” my family is “right,” my species is so “superior.” Then we go on blindly following the norm… without really seeing objectively, honestly, or thoughtfully. (A person’s inner thoughts often act – together – as a unified “gang” mentality!)
Being honest with oneself involves ruthless, direct objectivity that isn’t always pretty; it can be very ugly and difficult. Being truly objective with oneself isn’t for sissies! The alternative is to walk around in a dream world…
